The oxidation degree of white tea is generally higher than that of green tea. The production of green tea implies a sharp slowdown (ideally, stopping) of oxidation shortly after tea leaves are harvested (most often by heating the leaves). In white tea production, oxidation slows down naturally as the tea leaves dry out and tends to get deeper than in green tea. It should also be noted that some white teas may be close to black teas in terms of both the colour of the leaf/infusion and the degree of oxidation.

Since 2020 the International Tea Day is celebrated on May 21 — the decision on a special tea day was approved by the UN General Assembly in 2019. From 2005 to 2019, some countries (India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and others) celebrated International Tea Day on December 15 — it is likely that the holiday will continue to be observed, but more locally. In mid-August the UK hosts Afternoon Tea Week; on April 21 the UK celebrates National Tea Day. National Bubble Tea Day is celebrated in the USA on April 30th.
