A rare variety of tea in Assam was sold at a record price of Rs 75,000 (USD 1003,92) per kg at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) on Thursday. The speciality tea, known as Manohari Gold Tea, is produced by the Manohari Tea Estate in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district.
Notably, the sale comes as a ray of hope amid the global pandemic and its impact on the Assam tea industry.
